The Catalysis Society of South Africa (CATSA) is a non-profit organization that aims to promote the advancement of catalysis amongst academia and the chemical industry in South Africa. Its foundation dates back to the late 1970's and since its inception, it has steadily grown as a major organization actively promoting interaction in all areas of catalysis involving both the local and international catalysis community. CATSA is actively involved in the development of post-graduate students and annually supports several students to participate in catalysis related events both locally and internationally.
CATSA holds an annual national catalysis conference with the aim of promoting widespread interaction among practitioners in the field and this event is rotated around the country. The 29th annual conference is being hosted by the North-West University and will take place at Legend Golf & Safari Resort from the 11 - 14 November 2018.
The organizers of CATSA 2018 hope to provide an ideal platform for researchers (both academic and industrial) to share their knowledge and expertise in the different fields of catalysis. Thus we have put together a programme that will cater for academic sessions in the areas of homogeneous catalysis, heterogeneous catalysis, biocatalysis, electrocatalysis, nanocatalysis as well as catalytic reactors.
In addition the annual CATSA conference usually also coincides with a seminar tour of an eminent international researcher in the field of catalysis. This person receives the CATSA Eminent Visitor Award which is presented at the CATSA conference dinner. The 2018 Eminent Visitor is Professor Gregory Jerkiewicz from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
We invite you to join us at what we hope to be a memorable event.
