The Catalysis Society of South Africa (CATSA) is an organisation that aims to promote the advancement of catalysis amongst academia and the chemical industry in South Africa.

The history of CATSA dates back to the late 70's, when Dr Wim Mandersloot from the CSIR began organising annual meetings for catalysis researchers in South Africa. By 1990, from a mere handful of people, the attendance to these annual conferences had grown substantially, and in Gordon's Bay it was decided to found the Catalysis Society of South Africa (CATSA). The first chairman was Mike Scurrell who held office until 1992, followed by Cyril O' Connor (1992-1994), Neil Coville (1994-1996), Rafael Espinoza (1996-1999), Keith Lawson (2000-2001), Jack Fletcher (2002-2003), Tracy Bromfield (2004-2005), Manie Vosloo (2006-2007), Michael Claeys (2008 - 2009) and Jason McPherson (current chairman). CATSA has strong links with the major catalysis research groups at various universities throughout the country as well as overseas. Furthermore, many industrial concerns have forged ties with CATSA and thereby created a diverse web of interaction that permeates the local catalysis community.
